For the conventional function of the umbrella, the umbrella+ offers sun and rain protection in combination with a plug-in base or functions as a versatile table with additional legs.

The umbrella+ was created on the basis of an assignment for an application to Bauhaus University, the object of which was to design and manufacture an umbrella using only recycled materials (upcycling). The product should fulfil another function (apart from protection from rain, sun,...) and the materials used should be able to return to the material cycles after use (downcycling).

My solution was an umbrella for small balconies and exits of city flats, which can be attached to the railing. At the same time, it serves as a table by attaching four angled legs. Thanks to the round stainless steel mesh and the square tube cross underneath, the umbrella surface can also be used as a table top. It can be detached from the holder in the handle of the parasol and stowed away to save space. But see for yourself...
