Albert Einstein, with his unmistakable facial features, deep wrinkles and interesting skin structure, is ideal for familiarising yourself with portrait drawing. Once you have internalised the structure, shape and progression of the wrinkles and structures, darker shading, sharper edges and incisions in the paper can be used to emphasise striking areas and enhance contrasts. However, the eyes are most important, because as with any portrait, the similarity between the drawing and the original depends mainly on the correct look, i.e. the proportions and shapes of the eyes and eye sockets, the shape and position of the points of light in the iris and the position of the iris in the eye.
